AFCON: Tanzania fires head coach seven days into competition

The Tanzania Football Federation has fired coach Adel Amrouche following an eight-match ban and a $10,000 fine imposed by the Confederation of African Football.

The Algerian was banned for his comments following their 3-0 defeat by Morocco in their opening encounter.

The Tanzania Football Federation announced on Friday that Hemed Morocco would take over as interim coach in lieu of Amrouche.

“In another step, the Executive Committee of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has suspended Coach Adel Amrouche.

“As a result of that decision, Hemed Morocco has been appointed as Acting Coach, and he will be assisted by Juma Mgunda,” the statement read.
