Angry Ali Ndume stages walkout as Senate goes into emergency executive session

Tuesday saw a worsening of the crisis in the red house of the nation as the Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, angrily staged a walkout.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, abruptly called for an emergency closed session to prevent the situation from worsening.

Ndume had raised a point of order, invoking order 54 of the Senate Rule Book, to call the Senate President’s attention to his improper management of business in the chambers.

There are some things we do in this chamber that are against the rules, the speaker stated to the president. No one is too large to learn, sir.

Ndume’s statement had barely ended when Akpabio declared him to be out of order.

Ndume then rushed out of the chamber while clearly furious and headed directly to his office.

Soon later, the Chief Whip got a call from a colleague asking him to come back to the chamber for an executive session.

As at the time this report was filed, the executive session was still going on.
