Afghanistan has been struck by another 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
The earthquake that struck Herat early Wednesday was confirmed and announced by the World Health Organization’s national office in Afghanistan via its X account.
However, the world’s leading health organization emphasized that medical specialists were on the ground to assist the injured in receiving medical care.
“#Afghanistan woke up to another 6.3 magnitude earthquake today, shaking parts of the western region previously affected by the #HeratEarthquake. Teams are on the ground ensuring the injured get the medical help they need and saving lives,” the post read.
In his reaction, the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, while consoling those who lost their loved ones in the Herat earthquakes assured the organisation would continue to support the people of the country with medical care.
“My heart goes out to the people in #Afghanistan who have lost loved ones and have been affected by the multiple earthquakes in Herat.
“@WHOAfghanistan continues to support the Afghan people with essential health care,” he assured.
Earlier, a 6.3 magnitude quake at the weekend destroyed at least 13 villages in Herat province’s Zindah Jan district.
