APC announce Abdullahi Ganduje as party chairman, Ajibola Basiru Secretary

Former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje has been chosen to lead the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power.

At a meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the party’s NEC chose the former governor of Kano to lead the organization.

Ajibola Basiru, a former Senate spokesman from Osun State, was also chosen by the NEC to serve as National Secretary.

At the party’s 12th NEC meeting, which took place in Abuja’s Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, the pair were chosen.

Following his election, Ganduje congratulated President Bola Tinubu and assured party leaders that internal democracy will rule the party under his leadership.

Additionally, he promised to ensure an accurate list of party members and to give election management and conflict resolution his full attention.

He claimed that during party primaries, there will be an even playing field for all party members.

In order to guarantee the party’s triumph in the upcoming governorship elections across the nation, Ganduje pledged to get started right now.

At the NEC meeting, among others, were President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and party leaders in the National Assembly.

The President told the party’s 12th NEC that the APC had won the elections and that it was now time to fulfill its promises to the Nigerian people regarding effective governance.

The President proclaimed that the elections in 2023 would be the finest in Nigerian history.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were conspicuously absent from the NEC meeting. However, Bisi Akande, the party’s first national chairman, was present.

The APC national caucus session on Wednesday was followed by the NEC meeting.

Two National Working Committee (NWC) members of the party resigned in the middle of July.

Senators Iyiola Omisore and Abdullahi Adamu resigned from their positions as National Chairman and National Secretary of the party, respectively.
