Atiku, Obi vs Tinubu: PEPT fixes Sept 16 for judgement – Charly Boy claims

Popular Nigerian comedian Charles Oputa, better known by his stage as Charly Boy, asserts that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has set September 16 as the deadline for ruling on the petitions contesting President Bola Tinubu’s election.

Platinum Times is unable to determine the date with certainty, but the Constitution gives the Tribunal until September 16, 2023 (maximum 180 days after petitions are filed) to rule on the petitions.

Both Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for the February 25 election, had applications filed seeking the Tribunal to dismiss Tinubu over a number of charges.

In a post on his official X account, Charly Boy advised Obi’s supporters, or Obidients, to prepare for the verdict.

The post reads,

“OBIDIENTS ARE U Ready? Tribunal (PEPT) has announced that the judgment date for the cases involving Peter Obi and the Labour Party against Bola Tinubu, INEC, Shettima, and APC, as well as the PDP’s case of Atiku against APC, INEC, and Tinubu, is scheduled for September 16, 2023.”
