Bandits kill one, kidnap eight passengers in Niger 19
Terrorists have reportedly killed one person and kidnapped eight passengers returning from an installation ceremony in Borgu local government region of Niger State.
The kidnapping happened on Saturday evening between the Luma and Babana tribes.
It was discovered that the victims attended the installation ceremony of Borgu Kingmakers chairman and Chief Priest Bakarabonde.
It was discovered that the deceased was the driver while the terrorists burned the vehicle while transporting their captives.
Alhaji Sulaiman Yerima, Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, verified the occurrence.
He stated that the terrorists called him and requested N17 million from the local government in order to secure the release of the abductees.
He expressed regret that the local government did not have such funds, but indicated that he had contacted the Commissioner for Local Government, who will forward the information to the necessary authorities.
