Bandits storm Kaduna Mosque, kill seven, injure others
Seven worshipers were murdered by bandits in a mosque in Saya-Saya village, Ikara Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Five of the deceased, according to a source, were killed inside the mosque, and the other two were killed elsewhere nearby.
According to a local source, the incident occurred on Friday about 8 o’clock as the people were offering Isha’i (Sunset) prayers at a nearby mosque.
The source claims that two more villagers were shot and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The head of the hamlet’s vigilante was one among the victims killed inside the mosque, according to Malam Abdulrahman Yusuf, the village head who confirmed the occurrence.
“We suspected they tracked him (the vigilante boss) to the mosque to attack him,” the village chief said. When they arrived and began firing, we were in the mosque praying. At the mosque, five people were killed, and a driver who delivered food to the hamlet was also killed. The other individual passed away in a neighbouring community.
He claimed that about 12:30 am, soldiers and police from Ikara town and the Palgore district arrived at the site, but that the bandits had already departed the settlement by that point.
He claimed that one of the victims who had been shot was treated at Aminu Kano Hospital.
The State Police Command’s acting public relations officer, Mansir Alhassan, who confirmed the event, said security forces had been sent to the area’s bushes to look for the offenders and maintain peace.
