Bandits storm Maulud celebration venue, kill 20, kidnap many in Katsina
Late on Sunday night, armed bandits attacked during a Maulud celebration in Kusa, Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina State, killing at least twenty people and kidnapping many more.
A source claims that at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, the attackers broke into the celebrations, causing mayhem and resounding shooting throughout the town.
Speaking with Vanguard, a vigilante member described the horrifying event, saying that the attackers encircled the Maulud location and started shooting at the attendees, hurting numerous people. Twenty dead bodies were found in the village following the raid, he claimed. The attackers also forcibly kidnapped a number of people, and it is presently unknown where they are, according to the source.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident and said that the area had in fact been targeted by a band of robbers during the Maulud parade. 18 people were injured by the attackers, according to ASP Sadiq, and were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention. Regretfully, the injuries eventually claimed the lives of two of the victims. In order to apprehend potential offenders and prosecute them, further research is being conducted, he stated.
