Beheaded Rivers DPO: Police nabs another suspect

A suspected member of the cult gang believed to have assassinated the late Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bako Angbashim, has been detained, according to the Rivers State Police Command.

In a statement, the state Command Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the Command’s agents took action after receiving actionable intelligence that one of the suspects was likely to be killed by an irate mob in the Edoaha town of the state’s Ahoada East Local Government Area.

After then, according to Iringe-Koko, a squad of police officers sprung into action to save the suspect, who was set to be burned while wearing a tire around his neck.

She claimed he was freed on Tuesday and sent to the Ahoada police station, where he provided helpful comments.

The Police statement said,

“The suspect was later transferred to the state Criminal Investigative Department for discrete investigation, with a view to apprehending the fleeing kingpin and his gang members and recovering their operational weapons.”

Recall that the late SP Angbashim was murdered in the Rivers State town of Odiemude by what appears to be a cult.

The local DPO, Angbashim, was brutally murdered by the crooks.

Before moving to Ahoada, where he was assassinated, he was renowned for his tenacity in battling crime in the Ogoni axis of the state.
