BREAKING: Appeal Court reverses Tribunal verdict, affirms Abdullahi Sule as Nasarawa Gov
The sacking of Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has been overturned by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pronounced Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the victor of the March election, but David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) went to court.
According to INEC, Sule received 347,209 votes, defeating his nearest competitor, who received 283,016 votes.

However, on October 2, the tribunal overturned Sule’s election and declared Ombugadu the winner.
However, Sule, through his counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), requested the appellate court to overturn the tribunal’s decision and enable his own appeal.
Olanipekun said that the tribunal refused to take their witnesses’ remarks during the tribunal hearing, and that the BVAS data were just put in front of the tribunal without being considered as evidence.
On Thursday, a three-judge bench unanimously ruled that the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal erred in law in ruling that Sule did not receive a majority of the votes cast in the election.
The appeal court later overturned the tribunal’s decision and upheld Sule’s re-election as Governor of Nasarawa State.
