BREAKING: Appeal Court upholds Sanwo-Olu’s election as Governor of Lagos State
On Wednesday, the Lagos Appeal Court upheld the tribunal’s decision to validate the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat as Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
The court dismissed the lawsuit filed by Olajide Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, challenging the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The court denied Adediran, also known as Jandor,’s grounds of appeal in a unanimous ruling handed by a three-member panel chaired by Yargata Nimpa.
Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola, and Justice Paul Bassey rendered the decision.
The panel had previously validated Sanwo-Olu’s victory as the elected governor of Lagos in the March 11 election, according to Platinum Times.
The justices held:
“Even though they were all pre-election matters, the appellants (PDP and Adeniran) still failed to prove them. The appellants came empty-handed and left empty-handed. They merely enjoyed their day in court. Their petition is dismissed.”
