A ranking member reelected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has emerged as Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
Udeze, a member representing Ogbaru II Constituency for a third term, was elected speaker on Monday.
He was first elected under the platform of PDP in 2015 and reelected at the 2019 and 2023 general elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other elected principal officers of the Assembly are Hon Chukwuma Okoye, a two-term APGA member representing Awka South 2, who emerged as the Deputy Speaker; and Hon. Ikenna Ofodoeme, first term APGA member representing Ekwusigo Constituency that became the Majority Leader.
