Breaking: Ex Nigerian minister passes away

Former Nigerian Minister of Internal Affairs and Commerce, Senator Bello Yusuf, has reportedly passed away.

Senator Yusuf, who represented the Jigawa South West seat and was a senator for the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, died at the age of 76.

In April 1999, he won his first election to the Senate, and in April 2003, he was re-elected.

Senator Yusuf, a politician and businessman, was minister of internal affairs in 1979 and minister of commerce in 1982.

He played a key role in lowering Nigeria’s imports of goods, which had a considerable negative impact on the nation’s foreign exchange reserves.

He was given the honorary title of “Sardaunan Dutse” in his native Jigawa.

Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON), a national honor, was also awarded to him.

On Friday morning, Hussaini Dalhatu, a family friend of the dead, confirmed his passing to journalists. He also said that Jumat would be followed by funeral prayers at the palace of the Emir of Kano.

Apparently, the former politician passed away in Kano.
