Breaking: First-half injury forces De Bruyne out of UCL final
Manchester City midfielder Kelvin De Bruyne is off with an injury in the first half of The 2023 UEFA Champions League Final Against Inter Milan.
He had to be subbed off after just 34 minutes from Kick Off.
After colliding with Antonio Rudiger in the 2021 championship game, the Belgian sustained a horrifying facial injury and had to leave the field in Chelsea’s favor. And against Inter, he met the same end, leaving the game after only 35 minutes due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
De Bruyne was given extensive treatment by City physios after falling, but he made an effort to push through the discomfort and continue. But when Phil Foden was being stripped on the sidelines, he conceded defeat and motioned to the bench that he needed to leave.
It is believed that the 31-year-old took the problem into the championship match, but he had anticipated to emerge unhurt. He was also a question mark for the FA Cup final, but he played 76 minutes as they defeated United to win their second major trophy of the year.
De Bruyne produced the greatest opportunity in a relatively cagey first 45 minutes when his through ball found Erling Haaland, who smacked his shot against Andre Onana.
