The Adamawa State Governorship Election Tribunal affirmed Umaru Fintiri’s election as the state’s legitimately elected governor in the March 2023 governorship election on Saturday.
Platinum Times Nigeria reports that the Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has set October 28, 2023, as the date for its decision on the action challenging Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani Dahiru, had filed a petition challenging the designation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as the victor of the March 2023 general election.
In addition to allegations of widespread violations of electoral law and fraudulent voting methods, APC and Binani argued in their petition that the Tribunal should uphold Hudu Yunusa Ari’s proclamation declaring her the election winner.
