BREAKING: Tribunal declares APC’s Gawuna winner of Kano Governorship election, sacks Abba Yusuf

The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has fired Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and declared Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the March 18 election.
Because the panel members were not physically present in court, the verdict was read aloud remotely using Zoom, a teleconference service.
The decision came weeks after both parties’ lawyers gave their closing arguments on behalf of their clients on August 21.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that the NNPP received 1,019,602 votes, defeating the APC and its candidate, Nasir Gawuna, who received 890,705 votes. As a result, the NNPP candidate won by a margin of 128,897 votes.
The APC, on the other hand, petitioned the tribunal to contest the results declared by the electoral board.
