BREAKING: Tribunal declares Simon Lalong winner of Plateau South Sen. District

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and former governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has been recognized as the legitimate winner of the Plateau South senatorial district by the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, which is seated in Jos, Plateau State.

Justice Mahmoud Tukur, the panel’s chairman, ruled that Napoleon Bali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wasted his votes in the election of February 25 because he was improperly nominated.

According to the unanimous Monday ruling, the PDP did not have a legitimate organization in the state at the time of the nomination.

The panel determined that the petitioners could not support their claims on the other grounds of excessive voting and non-compliance with the electoral regulations.

Similar to this, Dalyop Chollom of the Labour Party (LP) defeated PDP candidate for the Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.

The tribunal determined that because the PDP lacked a legitimate structure in the state at the time of Peter Gyenden’s candidacy, his nomination was invalid.
