BREAKING: We will conduct census soon – Tinubu assures NPC

The National Population Commission (NPC) has received assurances from President Bola Tinubu that the Federal Government will assist in carrying out the ill-administered national census.
At the National Coordination Committee for CRVS’s inauguration and the National Geospatial Data Repository’s launch on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa Abuja, the President provided the assurance.
In addition to urging cooperation across government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, Tinubu emphasized the importance of data for the development of the country.
He urged the census specialists to use state-of-the-art technology to collect population data on Nigerians, stating that the country cannot afford to fall behind other nations in terms of effective data sourcing.
The President says Nigeria has much to be thankful for in that natural calamities do not often strike the country.
Remember that the Population Commission was given N200 billion by Muhammadu Buhari’s previous administration to carry out a nationwide census?
The Federal Government was forced to postpone the exercise due to other considerations, even though a significant portion of the money were used by the agency in the early stages of the census collection.
