Burna Boy breaks another African Album record

Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning singer from Nigeria who’s real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, becomes the first African artist to have an album chart at No. 1 in the UK with “I Told Them.”

Burna Boy’s seventh studio album, “I Told Them,” arrived at number one this week on the UK albums chart, the Official Charts Company reported on Friday.

The British record chart business gave the singer of “African Giant” a plaque to honor his achievement.

“He told them! @burnaboy makes UK chart HISTORY today as he claims his first Number 1 album,” the company tweeted.

An excited Burna Boy quoted the tweet with the caption,

“Let’s Have It! #ITOLDTHEM    #ITOLDTHEMNUMBER1.”

Before eventually reaching the top of the UK albums chart with his most recent album, the Port Harcourt-born singer’s previous two studio albums, Twice As Tall and Love Damini, peaked at Numbers 2 on the chart.
