CAF Confederation Cup: Bendel Insurance through to next round after defeating ASO Chlef on penalties

Bendel Insurance defeated Algeria’s ASO Chlef on Saturday night in a penalty shootout, winning 4-3 to go to the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

ASO Chlef scored a penalty in the 31st minute to win the first leg of the preliminary round match 1-0.

The match concluded in a thrilling 1-1 stalemate overall.

The Bendel Insurance team’s shootout victory was aided by a great save by the goalkeeper.

The 2022 winners RS Berkane will play the Benin Arsenals in the following round the following month.

The competition’s lucrative group stage will be entered by the victor of the two-legged match.
