Customs breaks silence on Yobe facility attack

According to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), its employees successfully repulsed a suspected Boko Haram terrorist attack on their site in Geidam, Yobe State, with the help of timely reinforcement from the Nigerian Army.

The National Public Relations Officer of Customs, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, confirmed the incident’s loss of one officer in a statement on Sunday.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), with prompt assistance from the Nigerian Army, successfully repelled an attack on the Customs Office in Geidam town, Yobe State, displaying unshakable fortitude and resiliency in the face of the state’s foes.

The statement said that Assistant Superintendent of Customs II Ahmed Usman, who was a devoted NCS member since February 24, 2009 and was born on April 2, 1983, unfortunately paid the ultimate sacrifice during this terrifying encounter.

In addition, Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi expressed gratitude for the assistance of other security agencies and expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased officer, stating that the service is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring appropriate security at the nation’s borders.

The slain soldier’s devastated wife and five children—three boys and two girls—from Pindiga Town in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State were also left behind.
