A yet-to-be-identified cop who reportedly shot a driver in a viral video has been apprehended and held, according to the Delta State Police Command.
DSP Bright Edafe, Delta Police Public Relations Officer, expressed disappointment about the officer’s unprofessional behavior in a post on his official X handle.
The erring cop, who was on a stop and search on the East-West Road in Ughelli town, opened fire on the victim after a disagreement, according to Platinum Times.
According to the viral footage, the motorist, whose name is unknown, was shot in the leg and stomach.
The PPRO stated on his X page, “The Nigeria Police Force does not and will never tolerate unprofessional conduct from any personnel.”
“On this premise, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass ordered the immediate detention of the erring Police Inspector.
“The injured victim is being treated. Meanwhile, the CP urges members of the public to remain calm, as he guarantees justice,” he said.
