Embattled Benue APC chairman whisked-away by security operatives

The crisis engulfing the Benue State All Progressives Congress, APC, took a hazardous turn on Thursday when security personnel stormed the party’s state secretariat.
Around 4:00 p.m., at least 12 patrol vehicles of security personnel roped off the party’s secretariat, threatening to arrest stalwarts and youths.
The event occurred on Thursday, when Mr Peter Onoja, Chairman of Ehaje Ward 1 Ogbadibo LGA in Benue State, visited the state secretariat with other ward exco members to distance themselves from the alleged suspension of the party’s controversial state chairman, Comr. Austin Agada.
Remember that Agada was supposedly suspended by a competing executive committee in his ward, which was overturned by the party’s national leadership.
The security operatives, assumed to be security details at Government House in Makurdi, attacked the party secretariat and disrupted a press conference by the Ehaje Ward 1 executive committee, which had come in solidarity with Agada.
Tensions rose at the secretariat as security personnel, the Chairman, and other party members engaged in a verbal war.
Agada was later escorted to the Benue Police Command Headquarters by security forces, who fired gunshots into the air to disperse the gathering at the secretariat.
