Emefiele hides from Camera in Court (video)

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) suspended governor, Godwin Emefiele, avoided the cameras on Thursday as he entered the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.

Emefiele, who has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since his detention on June 9 following President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of him, mingled with his legal team in court.

Journalists were prohibited from photographing and filming the defendant when secret police agents took him before the court since the defendant’s attorneys were also protecting him.

The Federal Government filed new charges against the suspended CBN governor after withdrawing the earlier one for illegal possession of guns.

Emefiele is accused of “conferring unlawful advantages” on one of the counts. Along with other things, he was charged with conspiracy and procurement fraud.
