Enugu bridge collapse: FRSC issues warnings to motorists
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a motorist advisory.
As a result of a collapsed flyover structure, traffic was diverted along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Dual Carriageway.
Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Relations Officer (CPEO), stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
The fallen bridge, according to Kazeem, was near the new Artisan Market on the Port Harcourt-Enugu dual highway in Enugu State.
He stated that the bridge, which was alleged to have collapsed on September 25 at 12.30 p.m., had disrupted vehicular traffic on that route.
Motorists traveling from Port Harcourt/Aba to Abakiliki should go through Bricks at the new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point)-Okpara Square, according to him.
“This will lead them to New Haven junction by Otigba Roundabout, through Ogui Roundabout-Abakpa junction (82 Division) and proceed to Abakiliki.
“On the other hand, motorists from Abuja/Abakiliki going to Aba/Portharcourt are advised to take Abakpa Junction (82 Division)-New Haven junction by Otigba Roundabout.
“This would be through Ogui Roundabout to Okpara Square and proceed to Enugu/Portharcourt dual carriageway, new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point) and continue to Aba/PH,” he said.
According to Kazeem, the advise was sent to ensure that cars were not caught in needless jams.
He cited FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Biu as advising drivers of all vehicle types utilizing that route to use the aforementioned alternative roads and follow all road traffic rules and regulations for safe arrival. (NAN)
