Fear grip residents as bandits converge en masse in Katsina community
Residents of Kankara LGA, Katsina State, are tense following reports of a large gathering of alleged bandits in their environment.
Over 100 motorcycles carrying assailants were seen converging in the Dansabau woodland in Kankara LGA, according to a source from the axis.
The assailants are said to be from six bandit camps in Katsina, led by known leaders such as Dankarami, Bazaru, Alh Illa, M. Ikko, and Babaro da Mobe, and are gathering to meet other leaders from the Zamfara axis in order to spread terror in the coming days.
Kankara LGC chairman Salisu Bardi recognized the situation.
“We are aware of the development, and we have directed Katsina Watch Corps and vigilantes around Baba, Masaku, and Kaikabayas areas to monitor their movements and alert security forces about any developments,” Bardi said in a statement.
However, in reaction to the imminent threat, a diligent member of the community claimed that this has always been the case, urging the military to take preventative measures.
To avoid potential ramifications, he proposed an air raid on the area.
