On Monday, President Bola Tinubu swore in three new ministers to his 48-member cabinet at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Ayodele Olawande, and Balarabe Lawal are the newly appointed ministers.
According to Platinum Times, they took the oath of office at 12:15 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the State House, prior to the opening of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Tinubu.
This comes about two weeks after the Senate approved the three during a screening on October 4, 2023.
President Tinubu nominated Ibrahim and Olawande as Ministers of Youth and Ministers of State for Youth on September 17, 2023.
He also asked the Senate to appoint Balarabe Lawal as Kaduna minister.
Lawal, who served as secretary to the government under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, took over as minister of environment in Tinubu’s cabinet.
Ibrahim, 37, is a native of Kwara State. She is a physician, politician, development expert, and supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
She was the National President of the APC Young Women Forum prior to her latest nomination.
Olawande, 34, is a community development expert and All Progressives Congress youth leader.
Prior to his nomination, Olawande worked as a special adviser on innovation in the office of the vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to former President Muhammadu Buhari. He held the position from 2019 to 2023.
Prior to the start of the meeting, the Council observed a minute of silence in memory of Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, who died on July 1, 2023.
Ajose-Adeogun passed away at the age of 96. He was named Minister of Federal Capital by the Murtala Mohammed military administration in 1976 and served in that capacity until 1979.
The meeting on Monday is the second since President Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.
