FG announce closure of Murtala Muhammed International Airport from October

Federal Government have announce the closure of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) from October 1, 2023, Platinum Times reports.
Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, issued the order on Thursday in a move that mandates all foreign airlines depart the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) by Sunday, October 1, 2023, according to Platinum Times.
During an inspection visit to the Lagos international airport, Keyamo made the announcement.
The airport’s airlines and business entities were ordered by the ministry to relocate to MMIA Terminal 2, the new terminal.
Additionally, he put a halt to all agreements, plans, and concessions in the area until further notice.
Before October 1, all airlines should transfer to MMIA Terminal 2, according to Keyamo.
Additionally, as previously reported by Nigeria Newspaper, Keyamo ordered the suspension of the Nigeria Air project that had been started by the former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In addition, Keyamo suspended all plans made by his predecessor Hadi Sirika to allow an accurate audit of contracts in the aviation sector.
He has also halted the concession project, claiming that he owes an honest evaluation to both the federal government (FG) and Nigerians.
The ban will remain in effect till the newly appointed aviation minister briefs President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he added.
