Fire damages Mandilas 10-story building in Lagos

The renowned 10-story Mandilas building on Broad Street in the Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State was reportedly on fire early Monday morning.
Millions of dollars’ worth of property was destroyed before firefighters, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), police, and other emergency responders arrived on the area.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Fire and Rescue Service, stated that the fire began on the first floor and spread to the fourth floor of the 49-year-old structure.
Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on New Media, updated the situation on his official X page.
He wrote:
“MANDILAS FIRE UPDATE: Fire Out Completely. First responders are still very much on the ground. Road Cordoned off and alternative roads are being well managed by LASTMA @followlastma and Lion Building Police Division and RRS @rrslagos767
“Lagos State Building Control Agency begins immediate clearing of shop extensions that hindered the biggest Fire truck (Aerial Ladder) to get in from the other side.”
