Gov Fintiri break silence on Soldiers, Police clash in Adamawa

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged all security personnel and residents of the state to keep calm in the aftermath of a fight between police and military personnel that claimed the life of a police inspector.

Some military operatives invaded the state headquarters of the Adamawa State Police Command in Yola early on Wednesday, escalating a conflict between police and military operators at a roadblock earlier in the night on Tuesday.

Governor Fintiri pleaded for accommodation and tolerance among security officers in a press statement issued Wednesday afternoon by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Winosikou.

“The incident is unacceptable at this time of peacebuilding,” Fintiri said, appealing to the parties to exercise restraint in the overall peace of the state.

Urging all security personnel on special assignment to remain at their duty posts and conduct themselves with a high sense of maturity, Governor Fintiri said,

“I am concerned that such acrimony could have lasting consequences on the hard-earned peace we have been able to build over the years.

“I appeal to all security personnel for restraint, mutual respect and tolerance for one another as people destined to work together in this great State. I appeal for patience and understanding as the administration works towards lasting solutions to these conflicts.”
