Gov Radda swears in 20 commissioners, 18 Special Advisers

Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, who has been the governor of Katsina State for exactly two months and three days, swore in 20 new commissioners on Tuesday whose nominations had just been approved by the Katsina House of Assembly.

The new Katsina State Executive Council members will shortly receive their portfolios, according to Radda, who announced this in a statement issued by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, his chief press secretary.

Along with the new commissioners, Governor Radda’s 18 Special Advisers also swore the oath of allegiance.

Along with three others who have since been appointed SAs, four Commissioners who had previously served in the most recent administration of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari were reappointed.

Governor Dikko Radda has reappointed Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanci, Hamza Suleiman Faskari, Musa Adamu Funtua, and Dr. Bashir Gambo Saulawa as commissioners.

Engineer Yakubu Nuhu Danja, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo Gwajo, and Engineer Mustapha Mahmud Kanti Bello are the three former commissioners in Masari’s administration who are now Special Advisers to the Katsina Governor.

Mal. Dikko Radda told the incoming commissioners and SAs shortly after they took the oath of office and allegiance that his administration would not tolerate their incompetence or failure.

“Be aware that we shall carefully monitor your performance, and whosoever fails to live up to expectation in the discharge of his duty, would be shown the exit door.

“Occasionally, we will be reshuffling your portfolios, to boost quality service delivery to the good people of Katsina,” he said.

According to Radda, the newly-inaugurated exco members were appointed based on merit, competence and track record of sterling performance in leadership positions they had held in the past.

“You have been chosen to serve our people. As such, I want you to see your new positions as a call to service. The expectations on you to deliver are immensely high. Therefore, you cannot afford to fail,” he said.
