GSS exam Stampede: 20 UNICAL students rushed to hospital

Twenty University of Calabar (UNICAL) students were rushed to the university’s teaching hospital on Saturday after a stampede at an examination venue on campus.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the rush occurred where students were scheduled to write the General Studies and Communication Skills (GSS) examination, which had been moved from Friday to Saturday.
The GSS exam was designed for 100-level students from all faculties at the institution.
The examination, which was supposed to be done in batches, saw pupils hurrying to grab a spot from the few that were available.
According to NAN, Saturday’s GSS examination was supposed to represent the culmination of the institution’s second semester examinations, which began on Oct. 16.
Meanwhile, the university’s administration has refused to comment on the rush.
However, a reliable source confirmed the incident. (NAN)
