If you have an issue with your National Identity Number (NIN) or there is a need for you to update your data due to marital status and you don’t know what to do, simply follow these guidelines to help you rectify the problem.

To achieve this, you will need to locate NIMC office closest to you with the required documents including the printout of the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Number.

Requirements for a change of name in your NIN

  • Sworn Affidavit
  • Newspaper Extract

Modification process(step by step guide)

  • Locate any NIMC office around your area with the required documents, including the printout of the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Number and a copy of your old NIN slip.
  • Ask for a data modification form and fill the details required.
  • Give the form to an enrolment officer who will check it with the supporting documents to make sure they are complete.
  • The enrolment officer will enter your information on the NIMC Software.
  • You will be asked to go through the inputed information to be sure it’s correct.
  • Your biometrics will be captured.
  • A Transaction ID Slip will be printed and given to you.
  • The NIMC office will let you know when to come back for your reprinted and corrected NIN.
