How Wigwe’s aide, Olusola Faleye escaped chopper crash that killed his boss
New details are emerging about how Olusola Faleye, a Personal/Technical Assistant to the GMD of Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe, allegedly escaped the catastrophic helicopter crash that killed his employer.
According to Platinum Times Nigeria, Olusola Faleye, a Mathematics graduate from Ahmadu Bello University whose name appeared on the flight manifest of the ill-fated Orbic Air’s Eurocopter EC 13 helicopter that purportedly crashed with five people on board, narrowly avoided death.
According to sources, Olusola Faleye flew from London, United Kingdom to Palm Spring, California, United States, with Wigwe, his wife, son, and former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Bamofin Abimbola Ogunbanjo, but chose not to participate.
According to the source, when Olushola arrived in Palm Springs, he declined to board the ill-fated flight to Boulder City, Nevada, stating that he would not travel by helicopter at night due to weather conditions.
He was supposed to have chosen to travel by road, escaping the plane accident that apparently killed four others, including his boss.
According to ENigeria News, Wigwe, a great admirer of the Super Bowl, America’s biggest sporting event, had cleared his schedule to come to California to witness a sport that helps him relax and revitalize and which he considers one of his guilty pleasures.
He left Nigeria on Wednesday for the Super Bowl and some business, but he will not be returning.
Meanwhile, Access Holdings responded to the event in a statement, stating that it lacked appropriate information regarding the disaster and was working with US authorities to obtain updates.
