I didn’t receive any prayer to my email – Kingibe reacts to Akpabio’s gaffes
Senator Ireti Kingbe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of Abuja in the Senate, claims she hasn’t received any ‘prayers’ in the Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s email.
Senator Kingibe of the Labour Party, LP was responding to Akpabio’s statement that “prayers” had been sent to the lawmakers as they go for a break during the day’s plenary session.
The senator claimed she did not receive any out-of-the-ordinary allowances when she spoke on Wednesday’s episode of Politics Today on Channels Television.
Kingibe responded jokingly, “No, actually, I didn’t receive any prayers, but I’ll check my email for the prayers,” adding that she was unsure of what Akpabio was alluding to.
Platinum Times Nigeria cites the Senate President’s statement to the Senate’s plenary on Wednesday that “a token has been sent to our various accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly to enable us all to enjoy our holidays.”
Later, Akpabio retracted the claims and said that the purported payment was simply “prayers” sent to their “mailboxes”.
He acknowledged that the majority of people believed that the MPs may have received allowances, but he went on to say that these payments may actually be statutory benefits that we would have received anyhow.
