Increasing minimum wage to N100,000 is better than N8,000 Palliative – Primate Ayodele tells Tinubu
Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, recommended President Bola Tinubu on Friday to raise the minimum pay for employees to N100,000.
Instead of the proposed N8,000 palliatives to 12 million households that were announced yesterday, according to Primate Ayodele, such a move would soften the impact of subsidy reduction.
Primate Ayodele claimed that the N8,000 palliatives would only encourage corruption and would not benefit the needy poor masses in a statement that was signed by his media assistant, Osho Oluwatosin.
He claimed that due of political corruption, palliatives would not seriously affect the populace.
According to the man of God, the N8,000 palliative will be a complete waste of time since unscrupulous activities will taint the process and prevent it from working.
If the government truly has the interests of the people in mind, he claimed, the minimum salary should be raised to N100,000.
According to Primate Ayodele, a raise in the minimum wage will directly affect the populace.
According to Ayodele: “If truly the government is concerned about the masses, the minimum wage should be increased to N100,000.
“It will go a long way in cushioning the effects of subsidy removal and inflation. Minimum wage increase will have a direct impact on the people than N8,000 palliative.
“The N8,000 palliative is corruption, I see nothing in the palliative, and it will not reach out to the poor masses. Despite the fact that Mr President has signed it, it will not make any impact. The governors will use it for their selfish needs. The poor will not enjoy it at all.
“It will not be a blessing to the majority; the palliative is just a waste of time and energy, it cannot work for its purpose.
