Indefinite Strike: Labour unions set to suspend planned action as meeting continues
The planned nationwide, indefinite strike by the Organized Labour has been halted.
The deal was struck, according to AIT, following a private meeting with representatives of the federal government on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The N25,000 declared by President Bola Tinubu in his Independence Day anniversary broadcast is now applicable to everyone and not only “low-grade workers,” according to NLC President Joe Ajaero, who is reported to have spoken to newsmen after the four-hour meeting.
To make the announcement that the planned nationwide, indefinite strike would be postponed, representatives from the National Labor Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) will meet with workers’ union organizations around the nation.
The indefinite strike was slated to start at midnight on October 3 (Tuesday).
To further streamline the concerns surrounding gasoline subsidy removal measures, the meeting of FG officials will continue on Monday under the direction of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
