Jubilation in Cross River as Gov Otu secures $3.5bn Afreximbank funding for Bakassi Deep Seaport

The Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu has announced the security of $3.5bn Afreximbank funding for Bakassi Deep Seaport in the state.

According to the governor’s post on his official X handle, it reads:

Exciting news! Secured $3.5bn Afreximbank funding for Bakassi Deep Seaport in Cross River State, boosting key infrastructure projects. Our collaboration with Afreximbank in Cairo is a game-changer for economic growth and development in the state. #InfrastructureDevelopment

The Bakassi port would be of immense economic benefit to the country because it would have a depth of about 20 metres and could anchor bigger vessels than what any of the existing ports in Lagos could handle.
