JUST IN: CBN announce deadline for freezing of bank accounts without NIN, BVN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has set a deadline for the freezing of bank accounts that do not have a Bank Verification Number (BVN) or a National Identification Number (NIN).

According to the CBN, bank accounts without a NIN and BVN would be banned beginning in April 2024.

In a circular issued on Friday, the CBN stated that on March 1, 2024, a “Post No Debit or Credit” will be placed on funded accounts that do not have a BVN or NIN.
