JUST In: Four personnel killed as gunmen ambush NSCDC officers in Rivers
After gunmen in the Bakana town of Rivers, alleged to be sea pirates, ambushed four officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), it is feared that they are dead.
The event occurred in the early hours of Friday, a community member who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Saturday said on condition of anonymity.
According to the local, sea pirates shot and killed the officers near the Bakana River in the Degema Local Government Area.
“Two of the victims who are Muslims have already been buried according to Islamic rites,” the eyewitness added.
Reacting, the Spokesman of NSCDC in Rivers, DSC Olufemi Ayodele, who did not admit or deny the killing, said the command would issue a statement as more facts unfold. (NAN)
