JUST IN: LP, ADP win Senate, Reps rerun polls in Plateau

Daniel Asama, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate, has been declared the winner of the House of Representatives rerun election for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, which took place last Saturday.

Prof. James Garba, the Returning Officer, pronounced Asama the winner with 66,422 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Mohammed Gwani of the Peoples Redemption Party, who received 61,670 votes.

In a similar event, Prince Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has been proclaimed the winner of the Plateau North senatorial rerun election.

The Returning Officer of the senatorial rerun election, Prof. Nestor Chagok, who announced the results in the early hours of Monday, stated that Prince Dachungyang of the ADP polled 122,442 votes to defeat his closest rival, Yakub Muhammad Safiu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, who received 53,980 votes.

Christopher Musa Giwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, received 39,132 votes, while Barr. Gyang Zi of the Labour Party received 33,243.

This media recalls that late last year, the Court of Appeal in Abuja invalidated the election of PDP candidates Musa Agah and Sen. Simon Mwadkon and ordered a rerun within 90 days.

Furthermore, INEC eliminated the PDP off the vote paper, citing the aforementioned judgment.
