JUST IN: Mattew Abo, kidnapped Benue Commissioner regains freedom

Mr Mathew Abo, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, who was kidnapped on September 24 at his residence in Zaki-Biam, has been released, according to the Benue Police Command.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the news via text message on Thursday in Makurdi.

According to Anene, Abo was released early Thursday morning and reunited with his family.

Abo had been imprisoned for ten days before being freed.

Gunmen arrived on four motorbikes at 8 p.m., forced everyone in the house, including the commissioner’s wife and children, to lie face down, and whisked him away on one of the bikes to an unknown location.
