Just In: PDP releases timetable for February Bye-elections

The Peoples Democratic Party has issued the agenda and schedule of operations for the bye-elections on February 3, 2024.

According to Platinum Times, the Independent National Electoral Commission has set a timetable for holding bye-elections following the resignation or death of members of the National and State Houses of Assembly.

The PDP calendar, announced on Tuesday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, stated that notice of primary election and state chapter congresses will begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Nominations, expressions of interest, and delegate forms will be available for purchase beginning Thursday, December 28, 2023, and ending Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

The primary election is set for Monday, January 8, 2024, with appeals on the party primary set for Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

The party charges N3.5m, N2.5m, and N600,000 for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly, respectively.

The statement read,

“Please note that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are to pay for nomination forms only.

“Youths (male/female) below 40 years are to purchase Expression of Interest forms, but with a 50% discount on nomination forms.

“Please, contact the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja for further details on how to purchase the forms.”
