JUST IN: Tinubu names Desmond Akawor as Federal Commissioner for RMAFC

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the nomination of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as a Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), subject to Senate confirmation.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the new RMAFC Federal Commissioner, who represents Rivers State, is being appointed following the tragic death of the state’s immediate past commissioner, Hon. Asondu Wenah Temple, earlier this month.

As Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, and Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services), Akawor has served the country in a variety of capacities.

The President charged the new commissioner with applying his extensive experience across government levels to the full reformation of systems that would enable the most effective and productive use of allocations to all three levels of government.
