Just In: Tinubu, Shettima, APC end defense in LP/Peter Obi’s petition

In response to a case filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party before the Presidential Election case Court (PEPC), President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), finished their defense on Wednesday.

After Senate Majority Leader Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, the court’s lone witness, finished testifying, Tinubu and Shettma’s attorney, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), declared the case against his clients closed.

Olanipekun also tendered 18 sets of documents, including LP’s membership register for Anambra State, which Bamidele confirmed did not contain Obi’s name, indicating that he was not a member of the party when he contested the last presidential election.

Lawyer to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) said, upon assessing the state of case, his client is satisfied that it has suffeciently made its case and need not call any witness.
