Just In: Wadada, Adeola emerge as chairmen as Akpabio announce Senate Committees

A few standing committees, including Appropriations, Public Accounts, Ethics, and Public Petitions and Establishment, have also been announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Ahmed Wadada will lead the Public Accounts Committee, according to Akpabio, who spoke at Tuesday’s plenary session. Senator Solomon Adeola will lead the Appropriations Committee.

A letter from President Bola Tinubu asking for the Senate’s ratification of freshly nominated service heads was also read by the Senate President.

He stated that on a future date that has not yet been disclosed, the entire senate would screen the service chiefs in the senate chamber.

Similar requests for confirmation of the recently appointed service heads were made by the President to the House of Representatives last week.

At the beginning of the Thursday plenary session, Speaker Abass Tajudeen read the President’s letter.

On June 19, Tinubu immediately replaced all of the service chiefs.

National Security Advisor retired Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno, Chief of Defence Staff Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Navy Awwal Gambo, and Chief of Air Staff Isiaka Amao were among the dismissed security chiefs.

National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defence Staff Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff AVM Hassan Abubakar are among the new hires.

Since then, the newly seated officials have been operating in an acting capacity till the National Assembly confirms them.
