Kane’s goal seals draw for Bayern Munich against Leipzig

Bayern Munich came from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig thanks to Harry Kane’s eighth Bundesliga goal.

Kane has now scored nine goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga winners since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Despite losing 3-0 to Leipzig in the German Super Cup in August, Bayern nearly took an early lead this time, but Jamal Musiala blasted a feeble shot at Janis Blaswich.

Following Emil Forsberg’s miss, Leipzig striker Lois Openda scored, rounded Sven Ulreich and sliding the ball into the net.

After his shot from a corner was blocked, Castello Lukeba scooped home the rebound to increase the hosts’ lead.

After a barren first half, Bayern were given the chance to cut the lead in half shortly after the restart when a VAR review determined Leon Goretzka’s free kick had impacted Benjamin Heinrichs’ arm.

Kane’s following spot-kick into the bottom corner appeared to kindle a fire within the defending champions as well.

Bayern’s heightened pressure paid off when Leroy Sane got through on the counter-attack and scored devastatingly after risky efforts from Raphael Guerreiro and Mathys Tel.

In a rowdy atmosphere, both teams looked for a late winner, but good goalkeeping from Blaswich and Ulreich ensured the points were shared.

Bayern moves above of Borussia Dortmund into third place in the Bundesliga table, while Leipzig remains fifth after six games.
