They gathered in front of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital, only days after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the state's political crisis.

On Friday, members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) marched in support of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The march also included students, youths, civil society organizations, labor unions, and members of the state’s Hausa community.

They gathered in front of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital, only days after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the state’s political crisis.

Rivers was embroiled in a power struggle between the previous governor, Nyseom Wike, and Fubara.

The alleged schism between Wike and Fubara separated MPs in the House, with 27 defecting from the PDP to the ruling APC, in whose central government Wike currently serves as minister.
