Lionel Messi of Inter Miami is set to win his eighth Ballon d’Or later this month.
According to the UK Mirror, the male and female prize winners for 2023 have been released.
Last year, Messi guided Argentina to World Cup victory in Qatar.
After losing the 2022 prize to Karim Benzema, the organizers have informed Messi of his victory ahead of the presentation on Monday, October 30 in Paris.
The female award, according to Catalan publication Sport, will go to Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati, who won the Women’s World Cup with Spain after defeating England in the final in August.
Messi’s impending success will see the Ballon d’Or awarded to someone who does not play in Europe for the first time in history, putting him three points ahead of his longtime adversary Cristiano Ronaldo.
