LP Crisis: Prove your corruption allegations – Abure tackles suspended treasurer Oluchi

Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has disputed claims of corruption levied against him by the party’s suspended National Treasurer, Oluchi Oparah, stating she should provide tangible evidence to back up her claim.

Abure offered the argument during a guest appearance on Arise News on Thursday morning.

At a press conference on Monday, Oparah challenged Abure to account for N3.5 billion allegedly generated from the sale of nomination forms and fundraising activities leading up to the 2023 general election.

The LP, who arrived in the television studio with documents and copies of checks supposedly signed by the treasurer, claimed the corruption allegations against him were staged to harm his reputation.

He said,

“I have never stopped Oluchi Oparah from carrying out her duties including receiving money and signing of cheques. The electronic payment funds meant for the party are automatically transferred.

“Total summary of the money that entered into the party was N1.3 billion. We also got N800m for the campaign. I want to challenge her to make the records available where she got the sum of N3.5 billion.”

The chairman was, however, quiet on the allegation made by the national treasurer that she does not receive bank alerts anytime money is coming or leaving LP accounts.
